Which is the Best e-mail Service provider?

Microsoft still leads the race…

There is a tough Competition between yahoo and Microsoft… but now there is another competitor in the race. it is google

Microsoft is the first largest e-mail service, with 283 million users

Yahoo is the second largest e-mail service, with 274 million users

Gmail is the third-largest e-mail service, with 113 million worldwide users as of September according to comScore.

Google announced Tuesday it is adding video and audio chat to its free e-mail service, joining Microsoft and Yahoo in a race to make communication on the Web a more social experience.

Both Microsoft and Yahoo offer video with their instant messaging services, but have not integrated it into e-mail.

Last month, Yahoo announced it was providing programmers the software instructions they need to write applications that can extend the features of Yahoo mail. Ash Patel, executive vice president of the audience product division, said the goal was to help hundreds of millions of users “communicate better and get more done.”

Microsoft has also been upgrading its communication platform, known as Windows Live

Indian Premier League Reduce The Strategy Break TimeIndian Premier League Reduce The Strategy Break Time

The Indian Premier League is planning to reduce the span of the much criticized seven and a half-minute strategy break for the semi-finals and the final by splitting it into two timeouts of two and a half minutes per innings.

According to sources, the first timeout will be mandatory and will come into effect after the batting power play after the sixth over. The second break will be optional and will be left at the discretion of the fielding side. This will be a real strategy break. Just as in basketball, the teams will have just enough time to rework plans. We are looking at giving the fielding side the power to use it. We are yet to come up with the details. IPL chairman Lalit Modi, too, admitted that the strategy breaks were being reviewed and a new formula would be put in place after the round-robin stage. The technical committee is presently looking into it, trying to come up with new ways to overcome problems the teams are facing.

The Four foreigners rule to stay

Modi also categorically refused to increase the quota of foreigners. This is the Indian Premier League. The focus is on getting local talent and I have shoved away the idea of increasing the number of foreigners. Modi also said that the BCCI is not looking for a permanent window for the IPL in the ICC’s Future Tours Programme.

Wow! It is proud that from my state there is one Nobel Prize winner. The Nobel Prize winner Venkatraman Ramakrishnan with two other scientist visited the University of Madras (Guindy campus). During his visit to Chennai in late 2008, Ramakrishnan had interacted with both faculty and students.

Indian-born Venkatraman Ramakrishnan on Wednesday visited the University of Madras (Guindy campus) to say Three Cheers!. It is a rare coincidence that Venky’ Ramakrishnan, Thomas Steitz and Ada Yonath are among the more than a dozen Nobel laureates who had visited our department over the past five decades. Steitz and Yonath had both delivered lectures at the university in January 1978,” said a proud professor D Velmurugan, head of the department, pulling out a bound copy of the proceedings of an international symposium on Biomolecular Structure, Conformation, Function and Evolution,’ published in 1978.

Ramakrishnan had visited the university twice once in 2002 and lately in December 2008 to deliver a memorial and endowment lecture instituted in the name of the eminent molecular biophysicist G N Ramachandran, the founder of department, who had missed the Nobel narrowly. However, when Ramakrishnan came to deliver the endowment lecture, he had already made significant progress in the field of crystallography and ribosome.

Normally scientists don’t share with others the progress in any study that they are undertaking. However, when Ramakrishnan was here he was quite open about his research in crystallography and ribosome and the progress made, which is a rare quality recalled G Shanmugam, former head of department of crystallography and biophysics.
